DOWNY MILDEW OF GRAPES



SYMPTOMS

                                                    

  •        Small Translucent, pale Yellow spots with Indefinite borders on the upper Surface of leaves.
  •          Downy growth of the fungus appears, on the under Surface of leaves & directly under the Spot.
  •          Later, Infected Areas are killed and turn brown.
  •          Growth on lower Surface becomes dirty grey.
  •          Resulting in defoliation of leaves, Soot remains stunted in growth.
  •          Flowers & Berries are also Affected.
  •          Flowers may blight or rot.
  •          Berries become leathery & wrinkle, Developed a reddish marbling to brown colouration.
  •         Fruits shed, juice quality & yield is reduced.







                                   EPIDEMIOLOGY-:


  • Disease development Favoured- Rainy season with heavy dew, RH- above 80% & temp-23°-27°С.






                                      Management-:


  •          Sanitation is very Important, remove & burn all diseased leaves, shoots, flowers & berries.
  •          After pruning, the vines should be sprayed with Bordeaux mixture 1% or Difolatan 0.2% or Chlorothalonil 0.2% or COC 50wp 2.5-3gm or Copper hydroxide 1.25-1.5 gm/ Lit.
  •          When the flushes are formed, spraying the difolatan 0.2% or Chorothalonil 0.2% or metalaxy 10.2% is effective.
  •          Repeat the spray at weekly Intervals.

  3. Hey, I have one question our grame is downy mildewed (but not too much), grapes are big and nice but star to gettin a little purple color. Can we still eat those grapes? Or rather not? :D
