BACTERIAL BLIGHT. (OILY
SPOT)
Diseases of Pomegranat-:
1) Bacterial
blight (oily spot) – Xanthomonas axonopodis PV. Punicae
2) Anthracnose
– Colletotrichum gloeosporiodis
3) Leaf
spot - Cercospora punicae
Symptoms-:
- · Small Irregular, Water soacked spot apper on leaves.
- · Spots vary from 2 to 5 mm in diameter with Necrotic center of pin head size.
- · Spots are Translucent, later turn light brown to dark brown & are surrounded by prominent water soaked margins.
- · Several Infected leaves fall off.
- · Bacterium attacks Stem, Branches & Fruits also.
- · Girdling and Cracking of nodes.
- · Brown to black spot apper on Pericarp with L & Y shaped Cracks.

Management-:
- · Clean Cultivation & Strict sanitation is followed.
- · Use wide row spacing.
- · Selection of Disease free Seedling for fresh Planting.
- · Pruning of affected branches, collect and destroy Affected leaves (followen), fruits and burn it.
- · Dusting of Bleaching Powder or copper dust 4% (20Kg/ha) in orchard.
- · Give minimum three month Reset after Harvest.
- · Before Pruning, It should be Sprayed with 1% bordax Mixture.
- · After ethrel Spraying defoliation, past or smear with neemoil+500 ppm Streptomysin sulphate + 0.5% captan.
- · After new flush, spray Streptomycin sulphate or Bactericide (250ppm) / 1% Bordax mixture / captan 0.25% / 0.25% copper oxy chloride per liter of water.
- · Spray 0.5gm Streptomycin sulphate or bactericide + 2.5g copper oxy Chloride per liter of water.
